FOUNED MORE THAN 25 YEARS AGO

BY RUTH MARCHESE

Founded more than 25 years ago in the St Ives Country Club community, in what is now the City of Johns Creek,  Charity Guild of St Ives was founded by resident Ruth Marchese as a small group of women interested in serving local charities.

Members met in their homes to assemble supplies for various charitable projects, working with North Fulton Community Charities to provide necessary goods and services for their clients. From there, CGJC outreach expanded to include Easter Baskets for STAR House children and Hygiene kits for young adults in the CHRIS Kids (now CHRIS 180) programs.  Ambitious fundraisers generated much needed funds, allowing Charity Guild to provide cash donations directly to named charities.

In late 2017, CGSI voted to change the name to The Charity Guild of Johns Creek, Inc. to more accurately reflect the scope of the community and to encourage a broader member/sponsor base area-wide.

Charity Guild is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, nominated and elected by the membership, each serving a two-year term. Currently the Board consists of two co-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer and five Vice Presidents.

Charity Guild of Johns Creek is a member of the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce.
